Aguas calientes / picchu fiasco / travel travel

Today I hiked machu picchu mountain, the hardest day hike at machu picchu! I feel so accomplished. Then we did an hour tour of machu picchu! All was a blast but extremely tiring. In a few hours we will be on a four hour train to cusco. We'll spend the night there and catch the 8 hour, YES Eight hour, bus to puno. Puno will be our first stop on lake titicaca! 12 days til departure! Good ap scores, In Peru, met two amazing girls one from Chicago area and the other from dc that I've been hanging out with, finishing machu picchu round 2, and more! Life is good.

I conclude with the tres amigos Incan names,

Bye bye from coco leaf, moon beam, and pacha mamma!!!

long time, no internet.

hello!

heads up* the comp im on has a slightly different keyboard so im having difficulty getting punctutation and stuff.

but in the mean time, im alive. doing well....
currently im in the city of ollantaytambo which is where i spent 2 weeks last year. i love this town
tomorrow we take the 2 hour train to aguas calientes and the day after im waking up at 4 am to hike waynu picchu then macchu picchu.

today i flew from Lima to Cusco and then had a 3 hr bus to where im at now! its been a lot of travel lately.
this past week i was in the Lunahuana Valley which is 3 hrs south of lima. we stayed in bungalows with very questionable water and electricity. luckily there was the grand rio canete 2 minutes away from my room in which i was able to wash my hair twice and clean up at least a little. in Lunahuana we would typically wake up at 730, eat breakfast at 8, go to the local elementary school til 1 and teach the children english, eat lunch at 2, go back to the school til 5 to repare a room (painting, sanding chairs, sanding metal window sills, sweeping, wiring electricity for a few overhead lights, etc) the room had come so far in one week and it was awesome to see our few hours make a big difference for the kids. approximately 40 kids attend the school from ages 4 to 13 and they were incredible. the last night in Lunahuana we went to a mystic dinner, which was just that, mystic. we walked up a candle lit path to our table in the middle of preincan ruins on a cliff with candles everywhere, fancy table settings, a harpist, and so much more. it was an amazing opportunity. this past sunday was what we liked to call sunday funday. we woke up, had breakfast, geared up, white water rafted for 2 hrs, had lunch at a friends of a counselors, then went zipling for 3 hours! the last of the 6 lines was the longest in south america and it was over a mile long. I was on it for over a minute and a half of straight riding across the valley!! Other than that, I think ive covered the jist of the last week.

I miss home a lot but the new kids that i will be with for the remaining 2 weeks seem pretty cool. One girl lives in flossmoor, went to lake of the woods, is in bbyo, and knows many people i do. we should hopefully be on the same flight from houston to chicago on our way home. Yesterday was the official half way point in my month long extravaganza. I come home in about 14 days and man, do i miss my bed and shower!! I have so many awesome pictures and videos and im sure there will be many more in the next few days.... Love love love Jane Samanatha
